Biodiesel
Simply put, biodiesel is created by altering the structure of animal and plant oils on a molecular level to create low free fatty acid oils. These oils are then combined with methanol in a process called estrafication. The methanol reacts with the low free fatty acids to create biodiesel fuel. The byproducts? Potassium sulfate that can be used as fertilizer and glycerin, a component of toothpaste, soaps, and other health products. Biodiesel is a natural replacement of petroleum, but, unlike petroleum, all of its components are completely biodegradable.
To help support the growth of this industry, ITAC partnered exclusively with the company Australia Renewable Fuels and formed American Renewable Fuels, one of the largest biodiesel plants in the US, located in Clovis, New Mexico.”. Our efforts to improve the environment and our economy have been endorsed by New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson.
